Postmodern R&B - D'Angelo

The first, second and third time you listen to this record, you will probably like it ok, but most likely won't be blown away. Then after the fourth and fifth listen, you will say "Um... this is one of the greatest records of all time." It happened to me. It will happen to you. This LP is a mash up of sex, funk, and 70's R&B which takes you back to Sly Stone, Al Green, Hendrix and Prince. Not every track is perfect, and frankly some of the rap is cringe worthy but hey, the rest shines. Unparalelled production.
Sounds like: Smooth R&B, Marvin Gaye, Prince

The Line

One Mo' Gin

The Root

Feel Like Makin Love

Couldn't agree more... Still a 'staple' in my rotation.
